I realized that there's an important part of the Italian environment I haven't mentioned: the graffiti! It's a long-standing tradition around here; Pompeii was full of graffiti, mostly along the lines of "I screwed the barmaid" and whatnot.
Anyway, it is everywhere.
Often it is political:
Sometimes it is instructional:
"Grandma is always right."
Sometimes it is elaborate:

Pompeii would be proud.

I only recognize graffiti if it can be monetized and sold as art.
p.s. I imagine the grandma graffiti created by a surreptitous, tagging grandma.
I think there might be crossover potential with satisfactory comics for this grandma. she is part farcical criminal, part dark knight, part bubbe.
